Would you still use the lock off?

I was trying to put the True Fit back in again after taking it out and then did this to the dumb lock off. The lock off now has those sort of stress marks now.

Aren't the lock offs technically pre-crash positioners? I may still use it, but my gut is actually saying no. I guess my question doesn't really mean much.

I think I remember first years (or whatever company owns true fit:rolleyes:) allowing locking the seat belt if for some reason you can't use the lock off. But that may have been for rear facing.

There are multiple purposes for lock-offs, only one of which is pre-crash positioning. The TrueFit requires lockoffs for ALL installations, even if you can lock the belt in some other way, and also for LATCH installs, so they are looking at something other than just pre-crash positioning.

Thank you! This makes a lot of sense. Thinking about it more, I really hope that these lock-off are not just pre crash positioners and stay closed in the event of a crash. That would really hurt a kid's back if they popped open with any amount of force.

Just so I don't seem completely loopy, this is the post that talks about not using the lockoffs. It is a completely different scenario though. http://www.car-seat.org/showpost.php?p=1945483&postcount=13

Call Learning Curve, that looks like damage enough to not use the seat to me, but they can tell you more definitely.

I called they told me to send a picture, now I'm waiting to hear the verdict. And I really love this seat.
