How well do kids sleep in the CARES harness?

DD1 is 6, we are flying in December, and she needs something to use on the plane. She has a Turbo at our destination. We flew in May on the same flight (departing at 2am) and with her in just the lap belt it was miserable for everyone. I'm wondering if the CARES would help, or if I need to spring for a Frontier

Maggie slept pretty well- once we reclined her seat. I have to say I think she would have done better in a regular car seat, but eventually, with the reclined seat, she was ok in the CARES. Definitely better than a lap belt alone.

I don't remember if DD has ever fallen asleep with hers. But I think with reclining the seat it would work fine. DD also is most comfortable sitting 'criss-cross applesauce' so she doesn't slip down too far.

I can't imagine it not fitting her. Honestly I really hope it works, as the only other real option is a Frontier, and I'd rather not schlep another seat through the airport.

Maggie is just 40 inches now; she was 39 when we used it. But, she had about a 17.5 inch torso. She was just about at the limits. I think if you pushed it it could fit an 18 inch torso, maybe 18.25 max.
