You can configure the back seat captain's chairs to sit rear-facing. How cool!

Is that safer for an adult as much as it is for a child?

The only downside is that you can't install a carseat on it when the seat is RF. Too bad, our FF Harnessed kids might have been able to stay RF longer. :p

Yup, it's safer for an adult too to sit rear-facing.
But, as already mentioned, you can't install carseats when it is rear-facing. I was really bummed to find that out. :(

How about booster seats? Can those go in the rear-faced captain chair?

If you had a kid who was able to sit in a seat without a booster would you encourage your kids to ride RF?

The vehicle manual does not prohibit using a booster seat on the RFing seats... in fact, you can have integrated boosters added as an option to those seats.

However, your booster manual would also have to not prohibit using the booster seat on RFing seats.

My 5.5 yo wants that van specifically so he can ride backwards... little does he know that he can't ride RFing on them yet... he's still harnessed. ;)

Ah, but then that begs the question - is a 5.5 yo safer FF harnessed or RF boostered? ;)

He's only 35lbs... legally he still has to be in a harness until 40lbs OR 6 years old, plus with proper use law all the boosters only start at 40lbs, so he needs to be harnessed to 40lbs regardless... but yeah, I know what you mean. :D
