Convertible for Subaru Legacy wagon and a Hyundai Elantra

A friend is trying to help another friend (in Canada) get a seat that will work for them.

Here's the info I have-

10 months old
23 pounds
currently in infant seat
no other kids in the vehicle
Parents bought a Symphony 65 and installed it RF, but say that he couldn't breathe properly (not exactly sure what they mean by this) when strapped in. They took it to the fire station and the techs there said it was in correctly and angle was good. Returned it and are using the infant seat again.

They are looking for a seat that fits in a '01 Subaru Legacy wagon and a '07 Hyundai Elantra.

Thank you so much for an help you might have to offer!

Hi Becky, do you have any idea where they are located? Were they sure the people at the firestation were techs? Not saying they weren't but just good to know how reliable their opinion of the install might be. ;)

I don't really know much about either vehicle, but some of the more popular seats might be the Radian (install issues?), the TrueFit - on sale at BRU right now for $100 which is a STEAL, the MyRide, the CA (depending on how they feel about the recline questions), or the Britax convertibles. Is the baby tall? If so, that might narrow that list down. All the Evenflo convertible seats RF to only 30lbs in Canada, so while they are nice tall seats they don't usually make my list unless the child is a lightweight. Hope that gives you a place to start.

I've been able to get a classic marathon, EFTA, avenue, scenera, and radian into my 05 elantra. Right now, we have a shuttle33 in ours to keep dd rfing hopefully until approx. 2, when ds will be 6 and we can use 2 boosters with a rfing convertible.

Is it a leather interior? I had issues in an Elantra, leather, center with the MyRide. I got it to work, with a locking clip, but I wanted to cuss.
