The Graco Turbobooster is an excellent lower priced booster. It fits small kids well and lasts a decent amount of time in highback mode. My 8 year old still has a few more inches before his torso is too long to use it as a highback.

The Sunshine Kids Monterey is taller than the Graco by a few inches. It can be latched to the car while in use (the Graco doesn't have latch). My son has a ton of growing room in it. The Monterey also has a width adjustment in the torso area, so it's good for stockier kids. Some smaller kids won't fit the monterey well- the Graco is better for smaller kids.

Both seats turn into backless boosters after the back is outgrown.

The radian (not sure if you meant to list this seat or got it confused with the makers of the monterey- sk make both) is a convertible harnessed seat that fits kids up to 65 or 80 lbs, depending on model. It does not turn into a booster and has nice, tall top slots.

What she said. The Monterey is quite a bit taller but isn't always a good fit for smaller kids. Some are fine in it, but for example my son has very narrow shoulders and the Monterey positioned the shoulder belt too close to the end of his shoulder (the lap belt fit was dreamy, though). I really really wanted that seat, but it just wasn't a good fit in our case. The Britax Parkway SG (or SGL, which has latch like the Monterey) fits him better, and the TB fits him best.

I think the TB has a large variety of cover options, some of which are much less padded than others. If you get a TB, don't forget to fasten the armrests using the screws provided.
