I got an email today.:) I like this SUV and it's in my price range. Can I really not make 3 across work? I've only needed it once all last winter. Summer could be different, especially with my dd working the night shift now. I need 2 boosters and a seat for Matthew, who is rf for 2 more lbs in a Radian. His ff seat could be that or anything.

Please?

I have a 2008. Unless they have changed the backseat (I don't think they have)...it's impossible to do 3 across of anything (car seats, people, whatever). It's basically a 4 seater vehicle. I of course didn't realize this before I bought mine lol. I wouldn't buy another, just because it irks me that I could fit more people into the Corolla I traded in for it.

If you don't need 3 across (or ever need to transport 5 people at a time), it's a great car otherwise. It handles well and gets decent gas mileage.

Really. Truly. I promise. The designers were smoking something.

Well, it does have a 3rd row. Hardly a minivan, but in a pinch (like once a year), couldn't you stick someone back there?

And yet Heather's blog post made it seem like you could.

My experience is certainly that you cannot. Or moreover that I would not.

It's all very strange.

Can't do 3 across but there us a 3rd row option in the base model if you need occasional room for more than 2.

LOL! Well, the blog certainly made it seem so. But the photo reminded me maybe I'm the one smoking pot. The 3rd row seemed doable, as we rarely seat 5. I'm rethinking the safety ratings mentioned in the blog, though.

Crap. I wish I could find a car I could want and afford and that would work and that dh would also like enough to buy.

Yeah, um, Heather says you can; I don't think it's doable unless you have a VERY small person in that outboard spot. I certainly couldn't fit there with a CR installed.

I just want to say that the rear seat has 52.4 inches for hip room. That should be adequate for a decent seatbelt set up. Wonder why they felt the need to make such a stupid seat. How many years has it been like that? Maybe I could get an older seat or model or something.

Sort of just kidding. What's the CRV like, I wonder. Moving on from the Rav I guess.

There is a third row but it's available only on the models equipped with the V6engine option and the "non-Sport" model. The third row Rav4 model though can be very hard to find, especially if used.
