Keep pool noodle or not?

I meant to post this question here:

Do I need to keep the pool noodle a tech put in to have my 22 month old's Advocate's RF seat at 45 recline? She wanted to get his legs away from the seat more. Yes, he was crunched a bit.

But I had the seat at 45 recline and when I pull the latch tight it goes upright more. I want it more upright b/c it takes up less space. Though, his legs and knees are smooshed way more that way. Thoughts?

Well, then I might go remove it and make the seat upright more.
She had me freaked out about his knees being crushed in an accident.
He looks ridiculous at this recline, but he does have a bit more legroom.
I just want what's safest, though.

Most kids in my experience dont mind their legs being more bent...DS just puts his legs to either side of the seat or up on top...and the tech you talked to shouldnt have told you about his knees being crushed....broken legs are actually less common when a child is RF than when a child is FF

I've never had a kiddo complain about rf leg room until they were truly knees in the chest scrunched, and that was when I was trying my older nephew in it just for kicks, he was 4 at the time in a Britax convertible with long legs lol. If he's not complaining I wouldn't worry about it.

I had Piper hop in a classic Marathon yesterday to demonstrate how she would fit rear facing. And she fit comfortably (she'd outgrown it a long time ago, this was solely for leg room). Legs aren't a concern. They're safer rear facing than forward, even bent.

Remember, the child's legs draw back into the seat (towards their chest) in a frontal collision. Only in a severe rear-end collision would 'knees crushed' be a problem, but at that point I think his knees would be the least of your worries.

It frustrates me to hear techs give out such incorrect information. :(
