My just turned 3 this past March, son is going for surgery on Wednesday. He'll be given a general anesthetic, and I know we won't be discharged until he's "back to himself". However, past experience with kids and surgery is, that they're really sleepy after. Currently, he's FF in a Radian, but at times when he falls asleep his head bobs forward. My other son never did the head bob, his head always stayed up and off to the side. Anyhow, I do also have a TF that I could put into the center position in the car, I want to be able to reach him if I need to. I find the TF reclines while FF more than the RN does. Do you think it would be safer for him, for me to put him RF in the TF (the RN doesn't fit RF in my vehicle, at least i'm pretty sure it doesn't) for the drive home? He was weighed 2 weeks ago and with his clothes on, minus his shoes, he was 34lbs on the nose.
I know it seems a minor thing, I've just been thinking about it.

He did start complaining of not feeling well while RF awhile back which is why I turned him before I wanted to, but it wasn't consistent complaining, so he might be okay this time.

I would personally, after re-checking his weight by doing a difference (you with him minus just you), put in the TF rear facing. Even if he is right on the weight limit my personal decision as a parent would be to use it RF.

When DS2 had tubes put in he came home RF in the MR outboard and I put an infant mirror on the center headrest so I could see him on the way home. They recommend that someone sits back there with them but I didn't have anyone to come along that day. I checked on him via the mirror and pulled over a couple of times to check more closely. He was woozy and tired out and slept most of the drive home, comfortably. I was able to drape blankets over his lap in case he threw up from the anasthetic (he didn't).
