Questions about Roundabout

I've read conflicting info. Does my child outgrow the roundabout rear facing when either his head goes above the top of the shell OR the straps go above your shoulders?

You outgrow it forward facing once the top of your ears go above the the top of the shell?

Are the rules the same for the marathon??

RFing a seat is outgrown when the head starts to go over the top of the seat (some seats require a 1" margin at the top, so that's generally given as the more conservative, but never wrong, advice). OR when the weight limit is reached.

A FFing seat is outgrown when the tips of the ears are at the top of the seat, when the shoulders are above the top slots, or when the weight limit is reached.

And yes, that is the same for the Marathon. For just about every seat I can think of (the Radian is allowing the shoulders over the top slots by an inch now I think, that's the exception that's coming to mind).

So would you recommend if his head is close to the top to switch him? Do you follow the 1 inch rule?

Me personally on a Britax? No, I did not. Britax says head even with the top of the seat. However, when his head hits the top, yes, he would have to be turned.

How old is the child and what is his weight?
