Advice for booster fitting/shopping?

My DD is 6 and tiny, and still riding in her RN. However, as she is very law abiding and mature, I'm willing to entertain her request of moving into a booster when she reaches 40 pounds. She's currently at 38, so it could take a while, or not! She doesn't generally fall asleep in the car.

The two I'm thinking will offer the best fit for her when the time comes, are the Turbo and the Parkway sg, as she is very petite, currently 40 inches tall.

The best way would obviously try them out in the vehicle to see how the belt fits, right? Do all stores allow this before buying? Is there any point in trying the child in the seat in the store? I'm not sure if there are any stores in the Vancouver area that carry both, maybe BRU? But getting her to try will result in her wanting the nicest print, which I know will be the turbo, although I could talk to her about this ahead of time, that I pick based on fit, not she picks based on colour! I like the idea of the parkway's sg clip for sure, and both seats convert to a lbb when the time comes, and therefore come apart for travel, right?

We have a 2007 CRV, by the way, and may be getting a second car to replace a crashed civic, but not certain. No need to fit three across, but would be a bonus to be able to take another kid occasionally if needed.

Thanks!

Yes, the best way to choose the booster is to try them out with her in the car. I wouldn't bother trying the seat in store (this might make sense for a child with wide hips to test ability to fit inside the armrests, but not in your case). Not all stores will allow you to try. PLaces like Walmart/Zellers you would typically have to buy and then return. BRU is likely to carry both, so try that.

If you want to avoid biasing her opinion, leave her in the car with someone else, and come out with two equally boring patterns of seat - there are plain TBs out there, too. Get her to focus on comfort and ease of buckling, while you focus on belt fit.

We have both seats and both are great - DS is just 6yo, ~42lbs and ~44". We bought the TB almost a year ago when he was JUST (just!) 40lbs and maybe a bit shorter and it fit like a glove. The TB is more compact (and a bit lighter?) but won't last as long with the HB since it is shorter. The TB might actually provide a sligtly more ideal belt fit. DS can buckle and tighten both, including the SG clip, which he thinks is cool. The back on the TB falls off when you carry it, super annoying until you learn; we haven't had cause to take the PWSG out so not sure about that, but it does come off easily when you want it to, yes. The TB is narrower but the PWSG is not bad. You could consider getting the PWSGL (for LATCH) since you can then not rebuckle the booster when she is out of it. I am happy enough to train DS to re-buckle every time since it means he won't forget in vehicles where the booster doesn't latch in.

Thank you. Great idea to bring them out in neutral colours first to determine fit. Once we find one that fits well, I'm happy to order online to get a desirable colour / pattern.

I was leaning toward the sgl if I get the PW, but like you said, it's a good habit to buckle the seat when not using, and plus, the sgl doesn't come in pink, but the sg does (sgl only red which might be ok).
