Just a question about the new 50lb AO. I've owned three of the older ones and could install RF without the base. I have a girl with one of the new ones, having a heck of a time installing with the base on but can't find anything in the manual regarding RF install without the base. Can these go in RF without the base or do you need the base on them now when RFing?

I am in Canada
Cheers

The base on the newest ones is not to be removed.

Yes, the 2010 50lb models came without a removeable base, but it was narrower which made installation easier. The 2011 base is still not removeable, but has gone back to being the wider one which caused difficult installations before.

Since the seat has an 8yr expiry and makes a horrible booster anyways, I'd try and find one of the old 2010 models if you can. I know TRU still has some - the Lamont silver and black one is a 2010 model if you want to order online. There's also a girl one - I'm blanking on the name of it - not the Carolina, but the other one. Those are 2010 models with a narrow base so it's easy to install rf'ing even with the base on. And on the bright side, the 2010 models don't have those annoying harness covers.
