Harmony booster seat question

I looked at this yesterday at Walmart. Does it fit a bigger kid? Of course it has to be narrow to fit in a narrow spot, but with the arms flaring out like that, is that helpful for a bigger butt?

How big? DD1, nearing 70#, finds it much more comfortable than the TB or the Amp. She's about 52-53" tall now at 7 years. The flaring is a bit a forgiving.

I have seen that particular booster recommended around here before for kids who needed extra room in the hips/bum area. As you say, the shape means they can sit in it instead of wedging in between the armrests like they might in other boosters.

Yes, it does although I will say that when DS1 was close to 5 stepping, the armrests were far enough below the tops of his thighs that it was a tad tricky to buckle. He was probably about 87lbs then.

the arms do help accomodate a larger rear end... if they were straight up and down, we wouldn't have been able to buy it for Jeffrey (who now no longer needs it)... he wouldn't have been able to sit down.

However, the design also makes it tip in my van (contoured seats), even in the 2nd row captain's chair, and also makes there be slack from the buckle not being able to come up under the armrest and being crunched in our van.

It is perfect for my husband's car where the seats are sculpted, not contoured (so very firm), and the seatbelt stalks are much shorter.

There is another harmony at babies r us and maybe toys r us that is wider than the ones at wal-mart. I was thinking of getting it for the little girl I watch. She fits in her mom's car without a booster but not in mine.

Which one? The Lite Rider? That's the cheap backless I've seen at WM, but the highback one is also available there, though maybe only online?
Lite Rider is narrow, but my dd liked it up to age 10 and 80ish pounds, it was one of her first choices when she grabbed a seat.
The one at TRU is huge... http://carseatblog.com/2081/harmony-secure-deluxe-comfort-booster-review/ I guess the blogmeisters need to get a Lite Rider, unless I've missed seeing their review of it... (Don't know if you've run across the ProRider as a program seat, but the Lite Rider is the same shape, just a nicer cover and belt adjuster).

I forgot I started this thread! Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking ahead a bit. Brett has almost outgrown the Safe Voyage booster. I have space issues, ya know! Also Matthew will soon outgrow the rf Radian. FF it doesn't work.

I'm thinking of this or the inflatable booster for one of them. Hannah is 8, but smaller than Brett who will be 7 in April. She has the pink HBTB. That's really only a small dilemma. They don't ride with me often. Mostly only Matthew.

The 3 across is fairly rare, but needs to be doable for those occasions. I can't decide which should go backless, or really what to do. I've considered having seats just for the 3 across occasion, which seems a dumb, unnecessary expense.

Anyone have any ideas?

My DS1 is almost 50 inches and 66-ish or so lbs, with a "solid" booty and he fits just fine in the Literider. Excellent lap positioning. My DD is 46-47 inches and 55-ish lbs, with a good set of thights on her, and she also fits fine. Neither of them use this seat often at all, but they're definitely a good fit. I can also cram my butt into it, though I can't say it'd be comfortable for an actual ride.:p
