Need advice ASAP

This is going to be a quick, to the point post as I have a billion things to do at the moment.
Here goes.

My almost 5 year old, 40# child fractured his arm today, and is in a backslab for a few days until the full arm cast is put on. He has to have it in a sling for the time being. So, with the backslab and sling, I cannot put him safely or properly into his radian. I had to losen the left strap majorly to accomodate him on the drive home from the ER, which I wasn't happy about at all, but I had no other option.

Now, I do have a HB TB, as he is 40#, what is the safer way to go for the time being until I can properly get him back into his radian.

HBB TB properly restrained? Or RN improperly restrained?

I'm just so frustrated at the moment.........................

Just another vote for the booster. If you can choose what side of the car he is on, choose the side that has the shoulder belt crossing with the least pressure on his arm. If there's any injury to his shoulder or collar bone, then shoulder belt should be on the opposite shoulder of the injury.

((hugs)) to both of you. Poor guy must be miserable and must be rough for you too.

I was running out the door (again) as I was posting that, I should clarify, he's JUST 40#, and I"m not even sure that it's consistently.

I thought about this after I posted it and thought, man was that a stupid question. It's clearly unsafe to have him in the RN, and hopefully in a couple of weeks when the full cast and no sling is on, he can go back into the RN.

Poor kiddo. It hurts soooooooo much!

It's funny what a quick situation will do to you. I've found myself posting questions that I should know the answer to, and probably answer for others time and time again. In the moment, your brain turns to mush.

Playing the Glad Game here for a second... Thank goodness he's 5 and 40ish pounds! He actually looks great in the TB, assumng you move it up a notch for in the car. I hope he heals fast though. Poor guy looks so upset. And no you didn't ask a stupid question. (((hugs))) to all. :)

Poor kid! he looks like he is holding up pretty well in that pic imo, all things considered. Yes, move it up a notch. I am guessing he will not be in the mood for horsing around or leaning over with a broken arm, and he is just old/heavy enough that it should go fine. Hope the arm mends well and he's back in action soon.
