Cooler fabrics?

I have twin boys and one of them is VERY hot natured. When I asked about cooler fabrics at a local baby store, the owner (whose store specializes in Britax) said that it's not so much the fabric as the color. In other words, a lighter colored fabric would be cooler than say black. Do you agree? I was looking at the Fisher Price seat on Albee for $130. The only issue I might have is that it's black. I live in the South and it gets HOT during the summer.

Thoughts? Thanks, Shannon

I don't agree with the sales lady. For some reason the plusher the seat, the more my little boy sweats. We live in S. Goergia. I fixed this by buying a Marathon with a cotton cover (freedom). Britax currantly makes two cotton covers, speedway and denim or new blues....
I don't think the FPSVD is plush but then some non-breathable, plastic-y, fabrics are just as bad as the plush. Maybe someone who has one can chime in...
Jackson is going to a Regent as he has .5 in in the Marathon. I am hoping that with a more "open" seat that maybe we will not have a problem with the sweating. He has very severe eczema and it flairs up bad the more he sweats....

Colton is a hot natured baby too and i have him in the red/black FPSVD and it doesn't bother him. We live in Arkansas and the last few days it has been in the high 70's. He was actually hotter and sweated more in his safeseat1. HTH!

My kids get sweaty the minute I put them in a polyester-covered car seat. I wish more covers were all cotton. I think color would matter if the seat was in the direct sun, but really the heat builds up with your child's body against it.:twocents:

We use cotton covers in the summer here (Texas.)

I have cowmoo covers for winter, and freedom covers for summer.

My little guy sweats a lot in the cowmoo, which is a velourish material, and very little in the cotton Freedom, and it is HOT here.
