Help with seats for three kids. Was: momtobeto3

We have two children and are in a process of adopting a third child. Currently in our Jeep Liberty 2006 we have Britax Frontier (4 year old) and Diplomat (16 month old). We own another Frontier which was planned to be for a 16 month old when he needs to transition into it. We are adopting a 7 year old. What would be a good car seat for our 7 year old and is there such which would make a feasible combination with other two car seats so it would fit in my car. Or will we have to look into getting a new car. :( Thank you for your help!

Re: momtobeto3

Probably a rear facing Radian for the baby, a forward facing Radian or maybe a Maestro for the four year old, and a narrow booster like a Britax Parkway or Graco Turbo for the seven year old. How big is the seven year old? Any behavioral issues? How heavy are the four and 16 month olds?

Congrats on your upcoming adoption!!

Yes, you'll need some narrower seats, for sure. The good news is that if your seats are not very old, you could sell them to cover the new seats, as the Maestro & Turbo are quite inexpensive (but still very safe seats -- price doesn't affect safety!!). Even buying a Radian too, you might still have some money left over .

I agree with the suggestion of a Radian for the baby. Can you fit the RF Diplomat in the center between the two Frontiers you already own? There's no reason your 7 yo can't use a Frontier too if it fits.

As for getting a new car, you don't have to, but in my experience the ability to separate your children is a good thing. ;)

I agree... the 16mo old should stay rearfacing for as long as may be... I'd see if the diplomat fits between the Frontiers for now... if it does, good, if not, definitely order a Radian now (otherwise, I'd wait till the diplomat is almost outgrown)

And CONGRATULATIONS on the adoption!! And THANK YOU for being able to open your hearts to a school-age child. I know not everyone can/will... you are very special people.
