Will the True Fit fit FF in the airplane??

I have read all of the topics I could find about car seats on planes and did not specifically see anyone state that a True Fit will fit in a commerical airplane seat. I have a 26 month old and plan on installing it FF for the plane ride but will use if RF at my destination.

In looking at the dimensions, it is obviously wider than the plane seat but it won't bother me to have a little overlap into my space. I have seen several mentions of using a Marathon on a plane, and in looking at the dimensions - it appears to be about the same width as the 19.5" True Fit. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you in advance for your help! I want to avoid buying a travel seat if I can, even if it means lugging the heavier seat through our airport. :D

The Marathon sits up on a base and the True Fit doesn't, which is a big difference as far as installing on some planes. I k now people have used the TF on some planes, and whether or not it works is probably going to depend a lot on the plane itself. I think in most American planes it would as long as you can put the armrest up and don't mind being squished next to it.

I've flown with ours on a small commuter plane with no problems. It installed really well :)

That said, I could see it being a bit more difficult (if not impossible) to do in an economy class seat that didn't have moveable armrests.

We have flown all over the world with our TF and never had a problem even in a bulkhead row with armrests that didn't move. My son could almost get the tray down as well since it sits much lower than other seats. Great for holding the DVD.

I've flown with a True Fit. It fits, more or less, if you fold up one of the armrests. On our Delta flight on an older MD80-ish aircraft, the TF was about 1" wider than the seat with the armrest down. A bulkhead seat or larger aircraft might work better.

The harder part was using it with the lockoff. It took a bit of strength to get the seatbelt into a position where it didn't hit the FF lockoff.
