Does the UK have a car seat forum?

My in laws all live in the UK. I have been trying to encourage good car seat safety practices to my sil. She does not really listen and think that I am crazy. However one of her friends has a seven month old and has listen to some of the things I have said. I was wondering if the UK has a similar board to this one? If not I was wondering if anyone could give me a recommendation for a convertible seat for her that will keep her ds rf for as long as possible. I was think to suggest the Britax Multi tech is that the best one for erf? Her baby is in a bucket right now and has some room to go. I just wanted to give her the option before she bought something to ff. Thanks for any help.

While we're on it, os there any specific sites for Aus car safety & ERF? There's EB but that doesn't have the detail/proffessionals I'm looking for :)

That will be difficult as Australia isn´t into rearfacing. What specifics are you looking for?

I found bubhub - it looks similar to iVillage, but all of their safety stuff is lumped into one sub-forum (link). Maybe that would lead you somewhere though?

Perhaps some general information regarding rear facing might be helpful? CarSeat.se has videos, stats, and lots of information about rear facing (Disclaimer: It's my company). There is also a gallery with lots of older kids sitting rear facing in Swedish rear facing seats.

Britax Multi Tech and Britax Two-Way will keep children rear facing longer than any other seats. Kids can normally sit RF comfortably until age 5-6 or about 125 cm of height (50 inches)Max. rear facing weight is 25 kg. Despite their large capacity these seats need relatively little space and fit fine in a mid size car.

Unless baby of your SIL is very tall a normal seat such as Britax Hi-Way, DuoLogic, Belogic or Maxi Cozi Mobi will likely work well. Some of these seats are also a bit more compact. What car is your SIL driving if I may ask?

(The Swedish seats are seriously huge and fit in seriously small spaces. I put a Brio Zento in my rear seat of my van today, and it lets the captain's chair be all the way back, but gives my kid leg room, and looking at growth room I think even my MEGA torsoed 2 1/2 year old will get to 3 1/2 or 4 rear-facing in it-- she's 1/4 inch from outgrowing one of the highest-limit seats on the US market but has about 6 inches to grow before outgrowing this one-- and the Zento is one of the SMALLER shelled seats!)

Seeing as you can't legally use a seat in australia that rear-faces beyond 12kg, (26lb) I'm thinking it's unlikely you'll find anything on ERF:mad:

There are some mums that do it the best they can, though. You may be surprised that only 50% of Aussie 12 month olds are 12kg or more, and anything past that is considered ERF, so technically 50% of people could! :p

hehe, yeah, fair point, I do tend to forget about 'normal' size kiddos, probably because my DS was 8 months old when he hit 12kg:eek:
