SS1 in G Collection?????

I went down E-Children today to see the SS1 in the G Collection pattern because it has gracopedic foam and I wanted to see the difference in padding.

After getting the guy to understand that, yes that pattern is on the duoglider over there, I still need to see the CARSEAT to look at the gracopedic foam... he went and got it.

It did not have Gracopedic foam on the bum area. There was no foam that I could see. I have the Snugride in Metropolitan with the gracopedic foam so I thought I knew what I was looking for. Did I miss something? The seat was identical to the Pierson model they had there, so I'm pretty sure I didn't miss it.

Any ideas?

Why do you prefer the gracopedic foam? It is VERY thick and adds about an inch or two to the seated height of your child, meaning they will outgrow it much sooner. Usually there is a thinner foam layer- but some seats have no foam...Maybe someone used the seat he showed you and had removed the foam? Maybe it was a return or a floor model that wasn't intact? Little ones are in diapers, too, and they are mostly reclined, so I don't think they need all that padding. Just my opinion, though:) You could call Graco's customer service and ask.

I was thinking that he would be more comfortable as he got older. Although really, I have small babies... how much can a 26lb weigh down a cover, right? :)

I really just wanted to be able to compare the two and see what that difference would be. Mikkel is right at the height limit on the SS1 at 22 months so I wanted to know how the Gracopedic foam would affect the seated height.

It was a brand new in box seat. He brought it out from the back and had to rip the tape off the box... so it definitely was new. I was just confused because I called Graco and specifically asked which models had the Gracopedic foam and where in Calgary I could look at them. This was the fabric and the place they told me to go to.

Hmmmmmm.....that's weird. Usually the seat will also have a label sewn on the cover to the left or right of the harness adjuster saying "gracopedic foam".

I don't remember if it had the label or not. I just flipped the cover off the bottom and looked for the foam. When I didn't see it, I grabbed the Pierson and did the same... they were identical under the covers.

We also had 3 kids with us, so not a lot of time to explore.:p

My SS1 G Collection does have a layer of foam that lines the entire seat. I wonder if someone removed the foam and replaced it with the smaller piece of foam. The Fusion for example comes with foam that is just on the back of the seat.
