WDYT about peg seats for twins?

My friend is having twins and is being given new (supposedly peg seats and the travel system. How are these seats and the system for possibly smaller babies, remembering that they are all free?

They are NOT a good fit for smaller babies. Pretty similar to the SnugRide 22 as far as lowest strap height. And even larger babies usually need a crotch roll to keep them back in them-- the strap is further out than the Graco ones. Also, they are often quite a pain to install, and the handle must be at the top of the shell when in the car, not in ANY other position.

Also, the headrest seems to push many newborns' heads forward, and if the twins are born premature, they may not be able to pass their car seat tests in them because of this. Head pushed forward tends to lower o2 saturation. (Headrest is not removable.) Oh, did I mention that I've seen several Peg seats where the level indicator was so far wrong that when the baby was at 35 degrees it said it was too reclined? Yeah.

Hopefully the babies are big enough to fit them... I've seen even smaller singletons who weren't. (One in particular I'm thinking of was almost 7 lbs. and did not fit. I had one baby who was 8 lbs. 3 oz. and barely fit. It's all down to torso, obviously.)

Agree with everything KQ and LISmama810 said. It's a PITA to install, it's heavy, doesn't fit newborns very well let alone lower birth weight ones.

My favorite days as a tech are the days I save a twin mom from the Peg and the Duette .
