Small and lightweight...

I have a friend looking for a smaller, lightweight stroller. It needs to fit her at 5'5, and her DH at 6'7. One that will recline flat, or almost flat- but most importantly it must fit in the trunk of their car (smaller car, Passat maybe? Around that size). She wants to spend less than $200. Any ideas?

Her DH is talllll! They'll probably have to go Maclaren, he'll kick anything else (all terrains excluded).. Albee has the Techno XT and Techno Classic on sale for around $200:

If their baby is over the 3-4m mark, a Quest might work but it's, what, about 2" shorter? So that might be an issue. They all fold up quite small...

Another option, if they don't mind a larger fold (but FLAT, flat, flat) would be a Mountain Buggy from returnsforsale.com for around the $200 mark... It's certainly no umbrella stroller but with a DH that tall, it might save a lot of frustration. If you take the wheels off a Mountain Buggy is really is totally flat... it's just more time consuming.

I'm tall and have a long stride and Mac, Mountain Buggy, Bugaboo and Valco are the only strollers that haven't driven me mad with kicking the rear wheels. I'm sure that'll be the biggest issue for them finding a stroller--something that works for someone who is shorter, and someone who is quite a bit taller! Adjustable handle strollers should be a consideration.

Im not sure its a Passat. I know that the Evenflo travel system the bought originally didnt fit. So they bought a Snugride and a snap and go- but need an actual stroller too. Thanks!

have they ever had just a basic umbrella stroller? if so, and it fit in their trunk, then any of the macs should. They fold umbrella style and are only a little bit bigger overall than a cheap umbrella.

oh ok. Well if they are going to use it from birth then Id recommend the techno or techno classic. They both lay flat, and some come with a headrest already(one of the purple ones I linked to has it, the other had shoulderpads). I know for sure they do, I dont know about the other ones. I know the volo doesnt recline at all and the triumph only slightly. The quest like halfway I think... not sure about the rest of them.

Id stay away from inglesina if they are going to use it from birth because even on their tightest setting the straps are too loose until they are over 20lbs at least. My DN is 2.5 34lbs and is on the tightest settings on her twin swift.
