International travel?

Has anyone ever traveled to the Dominican? I am at a loss as to what to do about carseats. My main concern is for my 5 and 7 year old who both ride harnessed still. Do I bring boosters? I've tried calling to see what type of transportation they use from the airport to the resort (only 10 miles) but I can not get a straight answer. I'm hoping someone with experience could help. WWYD?

Most resort transport tends to be bus or bus-like and not have seatbelts.

I would throw backless boosters into the carry on and otherwise not worry about it. If that's the only transportation you'll be taking, you probably won't even be using them.

I agree--you probably won't have seatbelts. Most transport there will be maxi taxi type situations--just big vans with either no seatbelts or lapbelts only. Even rental cars still don't all have rear seatbelts. If you want seatbelts, you'll have to get a hire car that is newer and a little higher end that has rear belts.

I've traveled a lot in the Caribbean and Central America--most of the vehicles and transport situations are the same. It's getting better, but still less than ideal. It's also tough to get a straight answer about what type of seatbelts you'll be faced with, since they don't understand why that would even be important.

You will find belts in the front seats of all vehicles there, since it's required by law in most Caribbean countries.
