Does anyone drive a Routan? It's the only van dh can get excited about. They have several in the 24 - 25,000 price range new with remote start, heated seats, 2 & 3rd row tv screen, remote doors at a dealership in my area. This is apparently better than what we saw at the car show. The new loaded sienna they had was 44,something. The new Routan was 31,something.

The Routan is a rebadged Dodge Grand Caravan with a few styling changes, but still essentially the same van, made by Chrysler. You might find better deals on the Dodge version?

Would that mean that car seats would fit the same or not necessarily?

Same to my knowledge.

They changed the dash area, and the exterior a tiny bit. The overwhelming majority of the car is exactly the same. It more closely resembles the Chrysler Town & Country, but again, the differences are very small.

I have a Routan. The center seats are better upholstered than Chrysler's Stow-n-Go seats. They have LATCH system.

Every one points out that it's based on the Chrysler/Dodge van. The VW changes are more than cosmetic. The front and center seats are different. Many of the interior materials are upgraded. VW lit the front cupholders from the roof console. The steering and suspension is a little different (better).

If you can afford it, get the 4.0L engine. Some have complained about the 3.8L engine. The 4.0L gets better gas mileage. The engine and transmission seem to be better matched, too.

Volkswagen is buying their way into the market, so you may find some good rebates or financing. I did in August, 2009.

You wouldn't go wrong with a Chrysler/Dodge. I had good success with the 2 I owned in the past. The VW Routan gets most of the benefits of the Chrysler/Dodge, but then gets some VW touches. Some say it's the mini-van Chrysler should have built.

Oh, and it's 5-star safety rated in every category except rollover (not measured).
