Roemer expiration

I know Eu seats don't directly deal with expiration, but I am a little confused. From my understanding Eu seats are safe to use up to 10 yrs after DOM. But American seats expire 5-6 (or whatever the individual seat says) years after DOM.

Roemer and Britax are sort of the same, so do Roemer seats expire 5-6 yrs after DOM? (except that one seat that goes for 9 or 10 yrs?) Or are they made of different plastics?

I personally don't even consider plastics breakdown anymore. Considering the absolute junk I see coming through checks that isn't even yet expired, I'd be terrified with a 10 year old seat. Not only that, but (here in North America) if you compare the features and usability of a seat from 10 years ago to the seats available today, it's like night and day. I'd be SHOCKED to see a manual still with a seat that was nearing 10 years old. I would also be surprised if a 10 year old seat hadn't had at least one recall on it, that in most cases would probably never have been addressed.

Even if seats don't have 6 years stamped into them, or any expiry date for that matter...we need to use some common sense in determining when carseats have expired. Here in Canada, we used to have a blanket 10 year expiry statement stemming from Transport Canada recommendations. But when we're talking about kids' lives, what is the harm in erring on the side of caution?

Twenty years ago, seats had no expiry date on them. One of the babysitters in our community decided to use her teenage daughter's seat for her childcare. No expiry date. Doesn't make it right, or safe.

Here is what they emailed me:
Our child seats do not have an expiry date printed on them or do we go by expiry dates. As long as the product complies to the current standards which is 03.44 or 04.44 and has not been involved in an impact then it is still suitable to be used.

I am not sure when they started the 4403, but I would think it was mre than 10 yrs? It seems crazy to me.

I can't believe a babysitter wouldn't spring the 50 bucks to buy a new seat.
