My son (5.5y/o, 41lbs) won a limo ride with his principal from a fundraiser at school...just got word that it's today and I'm freaking a bit over restraints. Do limos have lap/shoulder belts?? Since this is a K-5 thing, I don't want Ryan to seem like a 'baby' and be in his Regent...so I think having his HBB would be safe and still have him looking cool...but obv don't want to sacrifice safety...The limo is going for a drive (not just in the parking lot), so it will be travelling on roads.

What should I do???

TIA!!!!!!!

I probably said this in the other thread  but I would not allow my child to ride in a limo unless proper restraints were available (forward-facing vehicle seats with seat belts that can be used to install harnessed seats or boosters if needed) and I was 100% certain that everyone else in the limo would be buckled. An unrestrained passenger becomes a huge projectile in a crash. :twocents:

My wedding was this past Saturday, my 4 and 5 yo's rode in another car, in their regular seats. My almost 13yo rode in the limo to the church with us ladies, but on the way back, she rode in the other car with the little kids.

OMG my mom told me about that story a long time ago (I guess after she saw it on Oprah). I didn't know the details though or that they were in a limo. I know they were hit by a drunk driver, but that child's death COULD have been prevented if she was in a proper seat instead of laying down on the seat with the seatbelt around her. :(

I haven't read the other thread yet, but it's possible your state doesn't have a law exempting taxis/limos from child restraint laws, so depending on the law in your state, it might not be legal for him to ride without something.

In any case, that seems like a ridiculous and irresponsible "prize" for a school to give out. Hellooo, liability!
