New YouTube video regarding ERF

I was really proud of myself when I uploaded a video to facebook - so I'm obviously not technologically advanced enough to assemble a movie, but I can and would love to contribute pics!

i don't have the time to make one right now (taking a technology time out!), but most Windows users have a program called Windows Movie Maker if someone wants to give it a try. It's time consuming but simple. :)

Oh, I used that when I made a slideshow set to music for my Gram's service. It was pretty easy. I have my baby shower tomorrow, but might be able to work on it next week, if no one else volunteers.

I think I can do this. I've been playing with my Premiere Elements now and I have something started. I am horrible with words though, so I would need people to tell me exactly what to write. And music suggestions! They turned mine off.. I guess it was a copyright issue.. whoops.

This is extremely incomplete! For some reason the end got chopped off. This is the extent of my editing ability though, so if someone has more experience, go ahead and take over LOL.

I believe that CRS made the original video if my memory serves me correctly. She's been busy with other things in life and hasn't been on much for awhile now.

Just my honest :twocents: - but if a new video is made I would encourage there to be a limit to both the # of pictures, and the age/size of kid put in the video... the intent of the video in it's current state is to stop people from putting their 1yr and 20lb kids ff'ing and have them keep rf'ing longer. I think for most people rf'ing a 5 or 6yr old falls in to the unimaginable realm and it's not even something I'd encourage a parent to strive for... 2 and 3yr olds rf'ing - yeah. But I don't think I'd go beyond that because at that point you risk losing the main goal of the video... some people are never going to be convinced that a big kid is truly comfortable - but they will be convinced that toddlers and preschoolers can quite comfortably stay rf'ing and at least wait until 2 or 3 to turn ff'ing.

(Not to be a debbie downer, I just wanted to state my honest opinion... there has to be moderation in everything, and if the video is "over-done" then it may not reach it's intended audience.)

I can offer pictures of my son... anywhere from age 18 months up to age 3 and a 1/2.

I'm pants at making videos though. I've made a few... it's not pretty.

I know I'm new and I don't know everything everyone else knows, but if people were willing to contribute pictures and information--make an outline of sorts--I'm a former film student and I'm not bad at putting things together. I don't have the good equipment--I'd be using iMovie, most likely (though I'll look into some other programs over the next couple weeks), which isn't ideal, so if someone has more experience and better programs, feel free to speak up.

I'm going to be mostly away for the next couple weeks, but should be back in a week and a half-to-two weeks, so if no one else has stepped forward, I'll throw my hat in the ring to put this together.

Did anyone notice this person offer to make a new video... a film student... might be worth taking him or her up on!!

Whoever makes this - I would LOVE, LOVE to have my DD in it. I have a bajillion pictures of her ERF so, PLEASE PM me so I can give you a couple pictures to choose from. :D:D:D

Madeline410, that's a great start. I wish I had a movie program on my computer because I would love to make it.

I think we should consider Wiggles offer too. As a former film student, I bet she could bring something fresh to the video.

Yeah I was thinking 1 pic per child since so many people want to submit pics.

I had another thought, what about putting the car seat name on each pic for the people that see the video and say "oooh I want THAT one!" Maybe even the age/weight/height of the child so people will have an idea of how long a seat could last? I'm just thinking for people that don't know the first thing about car seats.

I think it should just be pictures. When you start adding text, people are going to focus on reading and not get the emotional aspect of "all of these children are still RF."
Less is more, IMO. :twocents: It should be simple and encourage more research.

I believe Wiggles has the potential to make a great video for us. I PM'd her and encouraged her to start a new thread to ask for whatever info or pictures she needs.

I agree that is should mostly be pictures. Though I do like the text that is in the original video. :) If we could just update that...

I've been noticing for awhile that much of the info we refer to is getting to be quite old looking and could be updated or improved on a bit.

that is a good idea maybe half way through she could give a little info, like how rear facing is 500% safer and that there are no reported case's or broken legs, then show more pics, then add AAP's new 2 and 30 rec.. and of course throw in the crash test videos, I think that she should start with pics.. too

I think this new video will be awesome, however I really like that the info is at the beginning. If the photos are first some people my not understand why they are still RF. I think getting the info out there with pics spread throughout is really a better format. Then maybe have a bunch of pics together at the end.

While the photos are nice to see, nobody is going to know how big or old the kids are,or what the point is to the video or the ERF, and they also won't know that this is not another uninformed carseat video made by a random person. If they get bored looking at pictures they might not even see the invaluable information at the end.

I know in my case, the information is what got my attention, not the pictures.
