Cheapest HWH that also makes good booster

Need some recs. for neighbor who has big 2 year old in a comfort sport. I know this kid must be close to if not over 40# and darn near if not over the top slot. I want to have a few seats to recomend when I bring up that they need a new seat. Cheaper the better, Dad is laid off and I really want to steer them away from just a booster. It would like to recomened a seat that can be used as a booster to avoid the "well if I have to buy a booster eventually I'll just get that now" argument.

Yes, child is FF. Has been since 10 months. Yes, I tried to explain why he should RF. I gave up with that battle.

Maestro (short booster)
Apex is on dealomite fast fuse deals (day 4 today) It's a wide booster.
Trendz Eurosport is $99. It's funky.
Nautilus. There have been great steals at targets (not at mine, though) nobetterdeal has one today for $92

You might call safe kids organizations to see if they have any hwh seats. Ours has maestros that they give for a $25 donation (or less as needed)

The Maestro is okay but I don't think 10 more pounds would get this kid to booster age. So maybe the Generations 65 or Nautilus would be the best bet. Now I just have to get up the courage to talk to people who really don't want my advice. I am afraid that if I tell them the Comfortsport is outgrown that they'll just buy a booster. So what would be worse, an outgrown harness or a booster for a 2 year old (just turned). I hope they get him a HWH.

If you could steer then toward the Nauti, that would be a long-use seat for them. At least then the child would be in a 5-point rather than in a booster. Plus, they'd have the booster option later.
They really need to understand that 2 is waaaay too young for a booster. :(
There are good deals out there.
I agree with contacting local SafeKids orgs if need be.
Good luck!!

I agree that the Maestro just isn't a good choice right now.

I'd aim for the Nautilus or the babytrend seat from target.

If you click here and type in your zip code you can check if your closest Target has any more clearance Nautilus in the Garrison pattern. Most people have been finding their clearance is now 50% off. HTH!
