Question Who gets what seat?

We have a new Maestro, GN and then the MA (classic) that we've been using since DS was out of his KeyFit. I also picked up a $24 Scenera that we'll probably return tomorrow (bought it b4 I snagged the Maestro on clearance).

Trying to decide which seat to give to the in-laws (they will buy it from us) for their car. DS rides with them maybe once or twice a month (they are 2 1/2 hrs away). We have been installing the MA in FIL's truck (extended cab) RF.

He is still RF in our van in the MA and has about an inch to go before he is 1" from the top of the shell. Once he is FF in that seat, is it top of his ears top of shell before it's outgrown? He's 3 yrs 2 mos, 36", 28lbs.

FF in the other seats, are the height limits the same as compared to the MA? I saw the Maestro is 57" but that's just in booster mode, right? I haven't taken either it nor the GN out of the box to look at the manuals.

Ideally, one seat would go in the van, one in DH's car and one in the in-laws'. Now, we are trying to decide which one. I was thinking the MA b/c they are used to it but...

In full disclosure, the MA has been checked on an airplane once. I've been continuing to use it b/c I didn't know that was a bad thing.

Thanks for your input!

I'd put the GN in your car, the Maestro in hubby's, the scenera in in-laws and ditch the MA. (Of the nautilus and the maestro, I think whichever he thinks is more comfortable goes in the main car)

Thanks.

DH has been supportive of my car seat quirkiness (RF til now (3 days and almost 2 mos)) but he doesn't buy into the idea that the MA could be unsafe. I wish there was a detector or something that you could wave over a seat to see if it was defective :(. DS has been using the seat for the 2 years since it was checked.

So...

The Scenera went back to Target. The GN and Maestro will be our seats and the MA went to his in-laws. I have agonized over which seat to get him, to turn him or not and now the whole MA should be considered unsafe thing is just about to do me in. I guess if we had to keep it, it being ridden in one or two weekends a month is better than full-time. ??

Just out of curiosity, do you know how long the Scenera would have lasted him? I really hated returning it since I got it for such a good price.
