Which seat for 4.5 yrs old in '03 Corolla?

Hi there,

I am a newbie and want to make sure I am buying the safest seat for my child. I have two kids 28 mo (2 yrs) FF, Britax Diplomat, passenger outboard. I need to buy a seat for my 4.5 year old, FF, 40 lbs., driver outboard.

I was reading about the Britax Frontier but don't know if that is the safest for my car and configuration. We have an AWESOME tech in our area that we have used 4 times but she is booked up and I want to purchase today or tomorrow.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

The Frontier is a great seat that is easy to use and long lasting, other comparable seats are the Graco Nautilus, Evenflo Securekid 300/400 and Recaro ProSport. The Frontier does have 2" taller top harness position than the other 3 if your daughter happens to be very long in the torso, but otherwise pretty much any of those seats will get her to a safe booster age, so go with whichever one you like best.

Remember, if you're using LATCH in your Toyota, Toyota defers to the LATCH weight limit set by the car seat manufacturer and Britax states 40 pounds, so you'll need to install using the seat belt if you go with the Frontier. The others you can use LATCH up until she weighs 48 pounds. Continue using your top tether though, whether installing with seat belt or lower anchors.
