Side by side in a Ford Edge

I've tried searching for this and haven't quite come up with the answer that I'm looking for.

I have a 2012 Ford Edge and a 2.5 year old that is currently FF in an Evenflo Triumph Advance. She is 38" tall, about 35 lbs. Kiddo #2 is set to arrive in a month and we're looking at additional carseat options.

We have two EFTAs and a Graco Snugride (22 lb limit). My husband does most of the kid hauling in his Mazda5, so the Snugride will most likely go in there with one of the EFTAs.

For my car, I know that I could easily just get another Snugride and install each of the seats outboard (LATCH), but we'd like the option of putting down one half of the seat or have another adult ride outboard in the back if needed. We also have a Graco Snap n go already so I'd like to not invest in another stroller system if possible. Haven't decided if it's worth it to get a double stroller.

So what are my options for installing side by side (behind driver and center) in this car? I'm 5'4" and husband is 6', so front to back distance might be an issue.

I'm open to two new seats if necessary, and FWIW I think we're only likely to get about 6-7 months out of another (low weight) infant bucket since Kiddo #1 was out of it around 8 months. The other factor is that we may have a third kiddo in about 3-4 years, so it may get some more use after this one.

I'm bumping this up for you....but I think you may want to look at a Radian especially if you plan on a future three across.

The EFTA is about the most unfriendly seat out there for side by side because of the harness adjust knobs on the side. One Radian would be the easiest, put the 2.5 y/o in it now, it'll fit next to the Snugride, and then when the baby is out of the bucket, move the baby into it RF and get a Frontier or a Nautilus for the older child and you'll easily be able to fit those side by side too.

Then I would just put both the EFTAs in the Mazda and you'll be set for seats. :)

I figured that the Radian would be the way to go. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll look around and see if anyone local carries them so that I can try one out before buying.

Buy Buy Baby is usually the one chain store that carries them - otherwise some small baby boutiques have them, and you can also try checking the technician list to see if there's someone from this board in your area - many of us have Radians and would be happy to help you try one out! :)
