Regent buckle seems too far out.

My 4yo 51lb boy is in the Regent. I recently moved the buckle to the second slot because the belt hole was under him and when I was buckling if felt like the belt was being pulled up from under him. (he has a thick booty :D ) So I felt pretty confident that it needed to be moved to the second slot. However now there is all this space and it doesn't seem correct either.
Are there any photos that would give me a better understanding? I may just need to get an appointment to have it checked. :)

Thanks!

Hello Fellow Kentuckian! :)
I think a picture of what your talking about would help out. My ds is 4yrs old and 46lbs and also has a big butt and I've not noticed any problems like this before with him. But we are all shaped different.

And not to ask a stupid question here, but are you making sure his back/butt is pushed all the way against the back of the seat? I know ds will jump in his Regent and think he's ready to be buckled in the way he's sitting but 9 times out of 10 when I check to be sure, hes usually kind of slouched forward and could easily scoot his but back more against the back of the seat.
Just a thought... :)

I think that the general consensus around here is that it's better for a child to be sitting on a buckle than for there to be space, if you have an option.

BTW...I'm also in KY!

I posted two pictures with it in the second slot and the rest when I put the buckle back in the first. After looking at the pictures I'm thinking I need to leave it in position one, but I want to be sure.
In position one the hole is in front of him but the strap is actually coming from up under him, if that makes sense.
