Question Radian RXT, RF, 2010 Toyota Rav4

If the Radian RXT is the only seat in the back, is it ok to use both of the outside LATCH anchors to install it in the middle seat? There will not be any other passengers in the back seat. I read in the manual that we can't use the middle belt to install it. After recently being in an accident involving being side swiped by a semi truck, I'm nervous putting my 10 1/2 mo old in the outside seats.
