New RF seat for 23 month old (was:Diana)

Hi.
I need a new car seat for my 23 month old (Our Britax Marathon is almost expired). I'd like to keep him RF as long as possible.I'm having a hard time deciding which seat to choose. He hates the seats that are deep but they seam to offer the most Side Impact protection. I'm debating between Britax Marathon G4 (he screamed like crazy when we sat him in Advocate -too much going on around his head I guess) and Evenflo Symphony DMX. Any suggestions?

Re: Diana

If your marathon is about to expire it would be the classic/65 version and you should know the current britax seats won't last as long rearfacing. I agree the deep sides can be a hassel but other than that I really like our nextfit - it as as tall as the old britax seats with a little more legroom and a higher weight limit. No experience with the evenflo, sorry. Unless your child is very short in the torso I probably wouldn't go for a britax at this point if your goal is to keep him rf as long as possible. My son is small for his age and at not quite 3 has just about maxed out the newer britaxes. He possibly have a proportionally longer torso than normal but he's solidly in a 2T shirt, 18m-2t pants. It's mystifying. Tons of head room still in his classic marathon, nextfit, and radian.

Unless it changed, the Evenflo has a 37" rearfacing limit which is pretty short. My almost 4 year old is 38.5" and is at the limit of the Britax convertibles so they don't last much longer. The Radian RXT is open but with headwings for extra protection. The Graco Headwise/MySize/other names is the tallest rf seat available. I love Britax seats the first 2 years but would only buy one for a 2 year old if they were really small.

To elaborate slightly on MommyShannon's list, here are the seats to look at if you want to RF as long as possible:

Chicco Nextfit
Diono Radian
Graco Size4Me/MySize/Headwise/Fit4Me/Contender*
Clek Foonf

*all the same seat with different names except the Contender which has fewer features and is less expensive
