Lexus 350 RX install angle for Britax Roundabout 55

My husband bought a 2009 Lexus 350 RX this weekend. I installed DS's FF Roundabout 55 in the outboard passenger position using latch but it seems to be tilted back really far. The Lexus manual says to recline the back seat to the third lock position for a car seat install, which matches well to the angle of the britax seat back and is very solid, but it seems overly steep.

The Roundabout was much more upright when installed in DH's 2006 Scion xA, I believe in part because that car had much flatter seats. The Lexus seats seem much more angled.

Can I install with the seat back in a more upright position, or is there another trick to installing a Britax in this car with a better angle? Or am I just being confused by how upright the install in the old car was?

DS is turning 3 and about 37" and 30 lb, if that makes a difference.

This may be a silly question, but are you using the correct FF recline angle on the seat? If it seems to be leaning back a bit maybe it's still in the RF angle setting?

If not, then maybe it's just that your seats are quite a bit more sloped and it reclines the seat backwards more. I wouldn't go against what the vehicle manual says as that is what you should be following as far as install goes.

That was my first thought too, but it is in the most upright incline. We didn't change the seat recline when we moved it from DH's old car, so I really think it is just the seat. The front edge of the Lexus backseat tilts pretty car up, as opposed to the Scion which had really level seats. But I will double check to see if the angle shifted when we moved it (we were at the car dealership, so it was a pretty fast "lets get out of car dealer purgatory" install!).

We're installing a RF infant seat next so I am more concerned about that one actually, as If seems like we may have to raise the foot quite a bit to get to a 45 degree install when RF.

Thanks!
