Y know...I thought they did. But now um having second thoughts. Gonna recheck the manual.
If it makes a difference I didn't lock it until after I tested my install with the lock off. I did it more or less so it wouldnt be a toy for DS to pull on

It's fine. Tugging up on the shoulderbelt to get the whole thing tighter will make the seat tip, but just gently locking it after install will prevent it being a strangle hazard; it doesn't affect the install. The gap is fine, too.
Hope it's cheap to replace your other belt, it shouldn't cost TOO much, since there's no retractor and stuff (heck, it's easy enough for a handy person to do themselves, you can order lap belts online for surprisingly cheap).

jools I saw that online...you can actually buy lap belt webbing! Never would have thought! Something to consider. I just would feel so much better if he was installed in the middle in a car with NO side airbags and no SICT on the MA70.

DH is super handy. I'm sure he could figure it out. I'll bring that up to him today.
Thanks!

ps. He's so proud of that car. '97 Accord. My CPS instructor said to bring the oldest car you have to class so there's variety and tougher installs etc. and he thinks it will be the oldest one there.
