Car seats are mind boggling to me!! Currently I have my 3 yo 32 ib 36" in a recaro proride ff and my 7 month old in a Chicco infant seat. My problem is I can't figure out what to do in the soon to be near future with seats. As I see it I have 2 options a) buy a second convertible seat and put the baby rear facing and leave my older child in his pro ride. Or b) turn the provide rf for the baby and buy a 5 point harness booster seat for older.

Which will be the best option in the long run and safest? I'm leaning more towards b because I truly don't want to drop 300 on a seat this year and again next year but if its too early to move him to a combo I get it. When the moves happens he will be 4 and hopefully put some weight on.

If I go with option b I then have to decide which combo seat to buy a) recaro performance sport b) britax pinnacle or frontier (I don't know the difference between those 2) or another comparable.

Looking for any input! Thank you so much!! If it matters I drive a gmc Yukon and no other seats will be added. :)

Hello and welcome!

How much longer do you think you'll be using the Chicco? As close to the height limits as possible? Since I don't know your baby's stats, I don't know when that would occur, but I would think you could continue using the Chicco until outgrown and then pass down your Proride to the baby to RF. At that point, you could get a harness to booster option for your oldest to use, which you can then pass on to the baby in several years. So I basically agree with your option (B). If it matters any, I started my DS in a FN when he was a little older than 4.

I don't know your pref. between the ProSport and Frontier, but you can look up each seat's measurements to see what you'd get most use from. First off I noticed that the Britax has a 9 yr lifespan vs the Recaro has only 6 yr.
