My son is 6, right at 40 lbs, 45". He's a skinny little thing. We need a booster so he can ride with friends to camp this summer. He's harnessed in a pioneer and frontier, and will remain that way at least through the summer. It will end up being a long term seat when little brother takes over the pioneer. I assume he'll be in a booster for quite a while due to his size, and we take road trips so we want something comfortable. It doesn't have to be a hbb but if it is it needs to be convertible so we aren't handing over a huge seat to someone else. Googling hasn't gotten me very far.

The Chicco Kidfit Zip should fit smaller children well and seems to have a lot of padding.

I personally really like out Recaro Performance Booster for my 44inch, 46 pound 5 year old. It fits her very well and is very comfy.

I was looking at the cambria. We love our radian. I looked at the best bets but I'd prefer they were best bets for hbb and nbb, and I really want latch. I tried to wade through all the choices but so many don't have latch I finally gave up and came here. Everyone here seems to be able to rattle off exactly what I need to know!

My 7-year-old really likes his Britax Parkway SGL.

The Cybex Solution range M-Fix and Q2-Fix appear well padded but don't become backless.

All of those are LATCHable.
