Question Harnessed child in front seat??

This came up with one of the mom's I work for last week and I told her I would do some research and get back to her. So far fitting 3 kids in my backseat hasn't been a problem since I can do t a 3 across with 2 Radians but when my main family has another child we will be in trouble. Since we do a nanny share I will then have 4 kids. Their mom also refuses to get a mini van or buy a $200+ Radian so fitting 3 kids in her car will be a problem as well. She said she is completely okay with her daughter sitting in the front seat but I wasn't sure about the legal side to it. I know you can put the OLDEST forward facing child in the front with the seat all the way back but is it actually legal in NC? She rides in a Frontier 85 in my car and a Nautilus in her moms if that matters. Also, what about top tethering?

This is just a summary, but it looks like you can install in the front seat if the back seating positions are being used. It also says that kids under 5 yrs/40 lbs have to be in back if there is a back seat and airbags, but that a seat can be installed in the front seat if the restraint allows it.

Summaries don't always tell the full story, so it's best to find the actual law. The statute number is listed at the top of that summary, so you could google that.

Thanks so much!! I will try to google it. She is at least 45 pound probably more now so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem. The other boy's mom is a police officer so I might see if she knows anything about it. How do I find out if Britax and Graco allow it?
