Question Harnessed booster question

I am purchasing a hanessed booster or combinations seat for my very tall four year old who has nearly outgrown the top slots on his convertible seats. My car is no problem, but my sitter's car is old and has no latch or tether. Is there a 5 point harnessed booster that can be installed using seat belt only and be safe? We will keep him in the harness until he outgrows it, so we don't really care about its convertibility into a backed booster or backless booster.....we just want to be able to do a seatbelt only install. Recaro performance sport with the open belt path? Graco nautilus? Or anything else.....thank you for our help!!!

Are you in the US or Canada? Do you know his torso height or what seats he is outgrowing? What vehicle do you have? The lower anchors of LATCH have weight limits depending on the vehicle and seat.

I registered now! I really appreciate this forum...it is excellent and so helpful! So, here are the answers to the above questions: we are in the US, he is 34lbs and 17" torso height, and it is going in an old Suburban...no tether, no latch...sitter's car. It is his third seat, as he has two Britax Frontier 90s that we just moved him into (was rear facing in Marathon 70s, we knew he was getting close to top harness height, got a good deal on the Frontiers so bought one for each of our cars and put him forward facing in the five point harness, need a dedicated seat for the sitters car bc we start work too early to be changing seats). To be honest, we don't really want to drop as much cash on this seat as we did on the two Frontiers unless it is absolutely necessary.....it is used twice a week, two mile drive each time, and will only be used through next school year. After that it will sit empty/be our extra until our baby reaches a height or weight limit that no longer allows him to rear face, so it will sit unused for quite some time.

I feel like I keep talking up SureRides, but I think it could be a good option if you really don't expect to use it for him again. I'm not sure of all the different tether requirements, but most seats in the US only strongly encourage the top tether, just short of requiring it. A tech with the LATCH manual may be able to comment if older Surburbans can easily have tether anchors added or not.
The SureRide might be a good choice because it has 19" top slots so taller than everything but the Frontier. It also fits all the way down to newborns rf.

Adding a tether to an old Suburban is as easy as it gets. It's just a metal bracket that plugs into the third row seatbelt anchor. You might be able to tether directly to the 3rd row seatbelt as well, but I need the model year to check that.

I do agree with the Sureride rec also. That was is isn't wasting away why the baby grows.
