Diono Radian in Mazda CX-7

Will the Radian fit RF in my Mazda CX-7 without an angle adjuster or should we purchase that too?

I'm having an extremely difficult time choosing between the Radian and the Graco Headwise 70 since I know for a fact the Headwise will fit.

Depends on how tall the driver and/or passenger are. :) There's not a ton of space depth-wise in the CX-7, so I'd probably purchase it as well unless you all are short.

How old is your child? Does he/she sit independently? The angle adjuster cannot be used for a child who is too young or who cannot sit independently.

I thought it was just good head control after they said the 1yo min is incorrect? No? So hard to keep up with them yoyo-ing.

I know, right!?

I thought they most recently said able to sit up and maintain head control. But you're right that they yo-yo a lot.

I know we've had babies here who are 2-3 months old and who reportedly have "good head control." I doubt Diono would okay such a tiny baby using the angle adjuster, which is why I added the "not too young" part of my comment. :p

I am the OP. I'm 5'2" and my husband is 5'4"/5". Our son is 10 mos old and has been crawling since 5 1/2 mos. He started sitting unassisted around 6 1/2 mos (yes he crawled before sitting). He's close to walking and is cruising on his feet using his hands on furniture.

We went to a store where you can try out the car seats in the cars and we would have to move the seats all the way forward in order to fit the Radian in the car. The lady helping us wasn't a CPST, so I'm sure when she was "showing" us how it would fit in the car, it wasn't exactly how it would fit. I'm going to go ahead and purchase the Radian and the angle adjuster and if for some reason we can't fit it in the car without us being super scrunched and feeling like we're driving mini go-carts, we'll keep it.

Another question as well...does putting in the angle adjuster defeat the purpose of having the safe angle for rear facing? Is a child less safe with the angle adjuster given that it decreases the rear facing angle or does it just put the child at the minimum allowed angle of 30 degrees?

Thanks for all your responses!
