Car Seat installed with seat belt question...

I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra. No LATCH. We have never really used it to drive our son around. Recently we decided to install it, forward facing, in the Sentra as a "just in case" seat.

There is a section in the manual about installing the locking clip, if necessary.

It says...
If your vehicle was
built prior to model
year 1996, and has
a lap/shoulder belt
that is equipped with
an emergency locking
retractor (ELR) AND
sliding latch plate, you
MUST use a Locking
Clip.

We do NOT have ELR. But we do have the sliding latch plate. Going by the above, we should be fine without the locking clip, correct? We took it to a recent car seat clinic and they said we do NOT need the clip. But I am so paranoid that I thought I'd ask here as well.

A few things I saw online, like the video Evenflo put on youtube, said if you have ELR OR the sliding latch plate you need to use it. But the manual online says "AND."

The belt CAN be locked when pulled out completely. So we're okay with no clip?

Okay good. I am so paranoid about having the seats installed right. I think my husband is sick of having to go to the car seat checks...ha! So far we've gone for these....

Subaru Outback - Graco infant seat rear facing.
Nissan Sentra - Graco infant seat rear facing.
Subaru Outback - Evenflo Symphony rear facing.
Nissan Sentra - Evenflo Sympony forward facing.

We didn't take the Graco Milestone (rear facing) to a car seat check since installation was pretty much the same as the Sympony. But when we switch it to forward facing, we'll probably take the Outback to a check with it, just to be sure.

Did I mention I'm super paranoid about having seats installed properly? Ha!
(And yes, these are all for the same kid.)
