Question Booster without back?

My son (10, 4'7", 80 lbs) needs a new car seat. He is autistic and has epilepsy. I want to get him a britax booster with backrest up to 63 in black (no little kids color). He would like a backless booster becaus he is worried about kids making fun of it. I'm worried about a head injury or him sleeping against the window with airbag. He can get pretty active and has meltdowns. What do your specialists suggest? Did anyone have the same problem?

Do you have adequate headrest support? If so, I'd look into the Safety 1st boost air, it's a TALL booster. Another option is the Diono Cambria (needs headrest support) or Britax Parkway (doesn't need support). If you want to go backless, really any backless booster you find should work, if it provides an adequate seatbelt fit.

Would you consider having both a high-back booster, for those trips where he is likely to fall asleep, and the low-profile (very subtle, backless) Incognito for short trips/school dropoff-and-pickup? At his size, a backless is very safe and appropriate but only you know his medical and behavioral needs.

I like Qarin's suggestion :)

My 10yo uses an Incognito or Literider 99% of the time. But when we drive 25+ hours in 3 days to get to California, or 5-6 hours to hockey tournaments, he uses a highback Monterey so he can sleep. He would put up a fuss if I told him he had to use the Monterey around town. But more than once he's said "I love my seat" in regards to road trips :)
