Question booster seat recommendation.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a booster seat. It will be going in the 3rd row of an 05 gmc envoy for a 7 year old boy. He is approx 50lbs and tall, but I dont have a height. I do know he is at the heighest setting of a recaro probooster and outgrown his first years booster. He is currently in a parkway, but the higher I have to adjust it (the kid is growing like a weed!) the more unstable it seems. I really like the way he fits in the nautilus in booster mode, but he doesn't have latch in his spot and I think it is too heavy to use without. One more thing, I do not like flimsy seats. We also have an amp and it seems so flimsy. Anyone have any advice?

There probably aren't going to be many HBB that will work for him anymore. According to the Data spreadsheet the only thing taller than the PW is the Cosco pronto, and I know nothing about that seat (the Frontier would be a taller booster but also heavy and probably overkill to spend that much for a HBB for a 7yo). Does the position he sits in have a headrest? It might be time to start looking at NBB's. The only one I'm familiar with is the Harmony Literider (it's called something different now but I can't remember what). It fits a variety of kids very well and has a deep seat which is good for longer legs.

Thanks. I might try the parkway as a backless. The vehicle seat has an adjustable head rest. Is he old enough for that?

Yes, backless is fine as long as the belt fit is OK. If it's a trip that he might be falling asleep and you'd be worried about him staying upright then the HBB is ideal. But if he's outgrowing boosters in High back mode then backless is the next option.

How does the recaro performance booster compare to the older parkway (purchased the end of 2012) and the probooster. I also need to double check where he is in the probooster. It is in grandma's car so I might be mistaken onthe setting. Also, how is the parkway without the back? I have never used it that way.

He is approximately 48-50 inches tall. The probooster says 61" as does the performance booster, and he is pretty evenly porportioned (as opposed to his incredibly long torsoed brother).

I think 61" is not realistic for most kids. DD is 53" and doesn't have all that much room left in her Parkway which is a little taller. Torso height is a much better indicator.

Thanks! It looks nice. I was way off on the probooster. Once I looked closer, he was on setting 5 or 6, so he still has quite a bit of growing room left. It had become stuck and I thought it was as high as it would go.
