Question Booster age but bad seat belt fit

Where can I easily find info regarding which state's laws say (outside from the law section on carseats) that a child still needs to be boostered until am adult belt fits properly...so that it's really not out of a booster at age 7, 8 or 9, but really toll the 5 point test is passed. I know a tech pointed me to PA'S section, but how do I find others for when we travel and take around others kids? Need specifically CA, CT, NJ, MA.

In MA, the law requires a child under 8yo and under 57" to be in a booster.
See this: http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/docs/dph/com-health/injury/booster-seat-faq.pdf
I've seen somewhere (can't find it now) that also stipulates proper belt fit, but I don't know that it was written into the actual law, although it should have been.

But what is your actual issue? If it's simply that you want an excuse to require kids be in boosters in your car who do not fit properly without them, well that's a simple case of your car your rules, period!

My advice is that you are the driver, you are in charge of all your passengers safety. Also if the kids in question are going to be riding for long periods of time, expect them to take naps, so choose your high back boosters wisely for extra cushioning, prevention of slouching, etc, let the kids pick out the seats at a Walmart or Target or Baby's R Us, so they have some control over their long term comfort, but you the driver still gets the final say on quality of safety.

As far as I know, California is the only state to specify proper belt fit. There could be others, though. (In fact, I vaguely remember reading another one recently that was even more specific about proper belt fit.)

Even in California, though, most law enforcement officers and the general public know nothing of the "proper" use of a seatbelt.
