best car seat on a budget?

I need to get my son a convertible car seat soon. He will be 9 months old and about 21 lbs. Looking to spend at most $120. Any input would be appreciated!

If you can wait until January, lots of places have Baby Sales in January. Target will often put the MyRide on for $100.

Seats I like in about that range (maybe a little more):
Graco MyRide
Evenflo Triumph 65
Lamaze True Fit

I know there's more out there that I'm blanking on right now. The best thing to do honestly is go to BuyBuy Baby or Babies R Us and play with seats. Try your baby in them, adjust the harness, decide what you like, then take the seat out to your car and make sure it fits and is easy to use out there too.

The Safety 1st Guide 65 is another option, $80 or so at Walmart, the Cosco APT is another.

What infant seat is he in?

I believe he is about 29 inches right now. We have a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country. He is in a Chicco Keyfit 30. So I don't "need" to get one right now, but since he doesn't need anything for Christmas, my plan was to get him a car seat.

Amozon had Graco MyRide 65's for about $115 That seat should last at least 3yrs RF. We like ours. Nice and comfy and reclined for car sleeping. Easy to install.
