Best car seat for multiple vehicles

In search of a new front facing car seat that is good for multiple vehicles. we were in a car accident last night, so we are in the market for a new seat!!

If my car ends up being totaled (2007 Nissan Altima), then I will be getting a new vehicle (not sure what yet.), but in the meantime we will have a rental car.

My son is 2-1/2 & 33 lbs, 36" tall.

Needing the new car seat ASAP, since we are disposing of the one involved in the wreck!!

$300 or under range- we will be reimbursed by the other insurance company & our agent just told us to get a good, safe replacement!

I would vote for a Graco Nautilus or Britax Pioneer in that price range.

ETA: Since it is within the budget, I would get the Nautilus with Safety Surround over the regular Nautilus.

If it's going to get moved frequently, I find the Nautilus much easier to install than the Pioneer (I have both and much prefer the Nauti install!). You could always do a Britax Frontier with the Clicktight, more expensive than the Nautilus and Pioneer but super easy to install!

If being moved from car to car I'd definitely get a ClickTight Frontier - it makes installing so so quick and easy.
