OK... so my hubby wants to (possibly) put his baby back into daily driving.... which would mean we need 3 across in a ridiculously narrow backseat with no headrests & no ability to retrofit top tethers. Twin 6 year olds, ~39 lb size 5-6 shirt, and our 7 month old DD3 who is 20 lb, long torso 12-18 mos shirt. Seats we have to work with: 2 Chicco Kidfits lol. (DD3 rides in a pair of TFP's expiring soon, and we also own a pair of Graco Argoses.)

DD3 would be rf in the middle with lapbelt only. I'm thinking a Graco Contender or other Graco clone? What hbb would work with the weird wheel humps on the sides if the Kidfits dont puzzle well? I really would rather not do untethered 5 pt harnesses at DD 1 & 2's weight if at all possible.

I personally would not be comfortable with such an old car. Car seats are important, but the primary protection is the car itself. Do you have an alternative?

I had a car with fixed headrests and I found the easiest thing was to keep kids rf as long as possible. Preferably until they're old enough for the front seat. Just something to consider when picking a seat for the baby.

Daily driver is an '06 Expedition :). We also have an '09 Kia minivan which we are debating selling... or not--which is where we land into the Volvo. Maintenance on all 3 is drowning us at the moment.
I was in a major accident 15 years ago in an old Volvo like this & I walked away while there was a fatality in the other, newer vehicle. Some things happen beyond our control and we simply do the best we can with what we have. Can you tell I've come an incredibly long way PTSD-wise?
