Why 34" FF on Dorel seats?

I don't get this. Why did they pick 34" to FF kids in Dorel seats? What happens if they are not 34". I guess I just don't get why it's so high of a height? My kids are pretty short(DS just got to 36" and he is 3) so the new baby will be RF for quite some time, not an issue. I am just wondering if anyone knows why?

Because Dorel is trying to make sure that parents don't prematurely turn their children forward facing. 34" gets many kids to the realm of two years, which is really a bare minimum when you get down to it.

So it's a backdoor way of raising the minimum forward facing limit.

Ideally, all convertibles would list two years as a bare minimum to forward face.

Ah, that makes sense. Too bad most parents won't pay attention to that or have tall kids. Yup, mine are def. 2 b/f anything(weight or height) gets exceeded even in lower weight carseats!

The funny thing is, most of their seats that say 34" on them, when the child is 34" they have almost outgrown the short harness slot heights by height at 34" or already have! LOL I stuck my 2yr old in the one we have the other day, just for looking fun! (He is still ERFing) He is almost at the top slots in that one as well. He is 34" with a long torso, so maybe that has something to do with it but still his is not that long just a little longer then normal. Will post pics of him in it later, just for fun as stated before since it is not his everyday seat. We actually just use it very rarely for my niece when she is here.
