Transporting dog & child in back of sedan.

Is there a safe way to secure our dog in the back seat of a sedan so that she isn't a projectile in an accident? She weighs 70 lbs. I put the seat belt through her harness in a pinch the other day (I couldn't take her in the wagon) but that's not probably ideal on a regular basis.

Thoughts?

we have a pet buckle for our 65 lb lab. works great! just lock the seatbelt, route it through the harness, buckle, and then pull out the slack

Bit of a dog geek here like many are with car seats

. I would never drive one of my dogs without them in a crate (I have German Shepherds and have had up to 3 at once). I do Search and Rescue with them though and they have to be in crates when we get to locations so I can unload them and store them somewhere while the other one is training or we are waiting for our instructions etc.
Just curious, because I started my dog training obsession before car seat obsession

, what to the car eat geeks say about dogs in crates vs. in seat belts?

Oh, OP, I just realized you have sedan so you can't use a crate
