Hello

I will be travelling from Boston to Paris by Air France with my kid of 2 yrs. I have seperate seat reserved for her. I am planning to purchase "Evenflo - Big Kid Deluxe Booster Car Seat, Cactus" but not sure whether this is Airline approved.

In one of Blog i read that any airline approved seat upto 41 cm base can be taken in flight but this car seat has 41.91 cmd - will they allow this car seat ?

A booster cannot be used on any airplane as a booster is used with a lap/shoulder belt. Airplanes do not have lap/shoulder belts, only lap belts. Your dd at 2 is actually too young to use a booster in a car as well. She should be harnessed in a 5 point restraint for a few more years.

Regarding what seats can be used, you'll need to call Air France or look at their website. International carriers will go by there regulations (not the FAAs) about what seats may or may not be used. It's my understanding that many international carriers do not allow seats to be used like US carriers. A US seat saying approved for airline use will get you no where as it's not a US carrier.

I hope that helps some.

A 2yo should not be in a belt-positioning booster, period. There are no belt-positioning boosters that are approved for airline travel, either.

No, you cannot use a booster on a plane. Furthermore, no two year old should be in any kind of booster, for any reason. Ideally, in a car, a two year old is in a rearfacing convertible. At bare minimum, she's in a forward facing seat with a harness and a top tether that is always used.

You can contact Air France to find out what sort of child restraint can be used on the plane, but you'll need a proper harnessed seat for ground transport, and that absolutely does not include the Evenflo Big Kid or any other belt positioning booster.
