Hi all - I am new to this site & am looking for some help selecting a new car seat . I currently have my 6 month ( 19 lbs, 28 in) in a Graco Infant seat and my 2.5 year old ( 30 lbs, 36 in tall) in a Roundabout. My plan is to move my 6 mo. old into the Roundabout & get something new for the 2.5 year old. I am unsure whether to get a seat that converts from 5 pt harness to a belted high back booster ( I looked at a Graco) or to stay with a standard 5 pt. ( I looked at the Marathon.) I drive a 2004 Ford Freestar. THANKS for the help / suggestions!

I would recommend the Marathon. You will be able to use it for a very long time.

And/Or you could sell your Roundabout to get decent money for it, and also get the baby a Marathon.

This is what Dh and I did. We sold our 40lb weight limit seat while it was still worth something and not close to expiration, and went ahead and bought our 2 year old and 7mth both Marathon's. We were able to use the money from our sold convertible to help fund the purchase of the new Marathon's.

I actually liked how my 5th percentile 7mth old son fit in the Marathon better than I did the Snugride. But that may just be me...:)

Just an idea.....;)

For the 2.5 year old, I would definitely go with a Marathon. A 5 pt. harness is much safer than a booster w/ a seatbelt, so the longer you can get in that, the better.

You could move the baby into the Roundabout now and then maybe later, get another Marathon so he/she can stay in a 5 pt. harness longer as well.

Or, get a MA now. And, when the baby needs it (RA expires or is outgrown) something new and cool will be out for the oldest. ;)

The MA is the easiest seat that I have ever used! I love it and so does my son! I would recommend it for sure!

Is you 2.5 year old forward facing? What about the Regent?

SHe is currently forward facing, b/c I thought she was supposed to be at 1 yr & 20 lbs. After reading so many messages on this site, I am questioning that...
I looked at a brochure for the Regent today... I was considering this one too...
